Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Microcurrent Face Treatment?

A Microcurrent Face Treatment is a non-surgical, facial treatment of the neck, face, eyes, eyebrows and forehead that will leave you looking 10 years younger. The treatment lifts, tones and reduces fine lines leaving you looking younger and healthier within a very short amount of time. The most amazing thing about microcurrent technology is the speed at which a treatment can be administered.A standard treatment is typically administered in 50 minutes, with a total visit time to a practitioner of less than 60 minutes. The basic treatment is a procedure that involves the delivery of microcurrent into the face using conducting wands that are applied at specific acupuncture points. The experience causes no pain or swelling, and the age-defying results are remarkable. We typically recommend 10-15 face treatments, once per week. Thereafter, depending on the patient, the results will hold with maintenance visits every 4 to 6 weeks.

What is Microcurrent?

The use of microcurrent in medicine and cosmetic improvement has been studied for more than 30 years. Stimulation with microcurrents is also called bio stimulation or bioelectric therapy because it encourages cell physiology and growth. Essentially, microcurrent is a low level of electrical current that mirrors the natural current flow of the body. It serves as a non-invasive augmentation of the body’s natural electrophysiology through frequency, polarity balancing, and homeostasis. The effects of microcurrent (electroporation) in clinical medicine has demonstrated acceleration of healing

bone tissue, wound healing, muscle rehabilitation, TMJ, tendon repairs, lymphedema, diabetes, and collagen remodeling.

In summary microcurrent:

✔ Promotes cell metabolism and tissue repair

✔ Supports circulation – blood and lymph

✔ Reduces inflammation

✔ Helps increase mitochondria activity through increasing ATP (primary energy source in cells)

✔ Increase natural production of collagen and elastin

✔ Support scar repair by dispersing scar tissue and collagen remodeling

✔ Increase protein synthesis, gluconeogenesis (GNG) and membrane transport.

✔ Reeducate and rejuvenate muscle tissue

Why choose Microcurrent?

The application of microcurrent supports skin correction by encouraging the repair process. Damaged skin requires a program of restoration that is gradual and progressive for long-term optimum health. Microcurrent mitigates the practice of aggressive peels and thermolysis (laser) as newer research has revealed that these modalities may be adding more injury to compromised skin. Prior to choosing a course of treatment including product selection, the first step in skin correction is to determine the level of damage caused by sun damage, the ageing process, and other skin conditions. Microcurrent gently encourages repair of the stratum corneum, the bi-layers and dermal components to foster the skin into a healthier state. Cosmetic microcurrent is beneficial for improvement in the appearance of the skin.

✔ Aged and slackened skin.

✔ Improvement of skin texture.

✔ Fine lines and wrinkles.

✔ Reduction of acne scars.

✔ Use pre and post surgery to improve the both muscle and tissue for optimum outcome.

✔ Post surgically the application of microcurrent supports reduction of trauma, irritation, inflammation and helps foster skin healing as well as minimizing scar tissue.

✔ Muscle tightening in the abdominal area.

The effects of microcurrent are accumulative and studies have confirmed that there are significant side benefits including muscle re-education. Be aware that the results are also dependent upon lifestyle, age, health, and condition of the skin tissue. Furthermore, the low intensity of microcurrent cannot cause visible muscle contractions or marked discomfort

Are there any harmful side effects or pain during or after the treatments?

None. Not only is our treatment painless, but clients look forward to the relaxing experience. Our waveforms are very inducing, and many fall asleep during the session. Afterwards clients feel euphoric as though the just experienced the most fantastic hour-long massage; however, 15-20 minutes later, they describe themselves as feeling invigorated and alert. Microcurrent Face Sculpting does not rely upon a thermal energy source like a laser. There is no inflammation or redness, no need to heal before seeing results, and absolutely no downtime. Just reapply makeup and go on with your day. Many procedures using lasers advertise themselves as “lunchtime facelifts” requiring no downtime, but who wants to resume their day with a red swollen face? Microcurrent facial treatments are by far the safest and most effective non-surgical treatment available today.

Are there any ‘after treatment’ recommendations?

Yes. Advise your clients to be sure to drink at least 8 ounces of water (preferably filtered) immediately after the treatment. This will help ‘flush’ the toxins and impurities from the skin and body that have been stimulated from the treatment. Also help protect the skin from sun damage by wearing sunscreen daily.

Are there any contraindications that can prevent a facial treatment from being performed?

- Facial Cancer: Cancer can spread through the lymphatic system, and because massage increases lymphatic circulation, it may potentially spread the disease as well.

- Pregnancy.

- Pacemaker.

- Fillers, Botox – after 30 days for sculpting treatment.

- Metal plates/pins

-Eczema, psoriasis, cold sores, fresh bruising, open sores, bleeding, tooth abscess, broken jaw or other facial bone, head lice, recently consumed alcohol, under the influence of drugs, recent head/neck injury and contagious diseases.
